What I Learned in October

Happy Halloween!

What are your plans for today? Are you going trick-or-treating, going to a Halloween party, or perhaps staying at home watching a scary movie?

I have a full day ahead of me today, and I am ready (hopefully) to rock and roll!

Anyway, today is the last day of October. That means I'm going to share what I learned this month. Are you ready?
 * * *
1. I have the best blog friends and readers.
Thank you so much for the comments you've left on my mood boards

Getting your feedback helped me see the messages I'm sending you over the screen. After reading your comments here, I realized that my blog friends feel the same way with my friends and family I know in person. I think that's a good sign. Perhaps I'm getting close to finding my authentic writing voice. So exciting!

2. I guess I'm a "peachy" person.
Growing up, I wasn't much of a pink girl. My mom preferred red/navy/yellow over pink, so I don't remember wearing many pink clothes when I was little. When I was working on the mood boards, I was surprised that I was drawn to warm pink. As it turned out, some of you associate me with this color, too. Life is full of surprises, in the best possible way, of course.

3. When you're learning something new, taking a class is a great idea.
If you are new to something and you want to be good at it, why not take a class and learn from the the best? That's exactly how I felt when I decided to take the blog course

I knew it was going to be a great class, but it's been a mind blowing experience to say the least. Look at the mood board above. I would've never come up with anything like that unless I took the plunge and enrolled in a class. I'm also happy that now I know how to use Photoshop.

4. Sometimes it takes something scary to make you realize what really matters.

5. My 3-year-old always wants to be the same thing as his big bother for Halloween.
Two years ago, they were the "lawn mowing guys," and a year ago, clowns. This year, they're going to be superheros. My 5-year-old is going to be Spider Man and the 3-year-old decided to be Batman. But after much contemplation, the little Batman regretted not choosing "Cider man." (That's how he says Spider man.)

You can be "Cider Man" next year, honey :)

I have to get going now, but I hope you have a fantastic weekend no matter what your plans are!

  1. Cider man! That is so cute! Hope you and your family have a fun Halloween! I'm not keen on Halloween. I never have been. I'm already knee-deep in Thanksgiving and Christmas. But we do have a Halloween tradition in my family. Growing up we had a crazy, wonderful neighbor who always hosted our family for chili on Halloween. It's been about a decade since we last saw them after they relocated to North Carolina, but I carry on the tradition now. I usually like to have a strict count as to who's bringing friends/dates when I cook; but for this I'm pretty lax. So I never know exactly who'll show up!
I learned in October that I really miss carbs, but I feel better without them! Haha. And that I suffer from crippling real estate indecision. Tell your husband to be glad I'm not his client!

    1. Yup he's my cutie - my husband calls him apple cider man lol! Halloween chili night sounds wonderful - are you hosting one tonight? As far as I'm concerned, Halloween is a holiday (no?), so you will definitely be excused if you have a "high carb diet" day :-) xx

  3. Awww, it's so sweet that your youngest wants to be like his big brother. The pic of your little one with your husband is ADORABLE. Have a great weekend!

  4. I love the idea of having a color that represents you in a way. Now I'm curious about what color people would associate me with! I agree that you seem like a peachy person. It's such a warm, friendly color!

We dressed my 3-month-old baby girl as a minion from Despicable Me this year. I'm taking full advantage of the years I get to choose her costume! :)

    1. Thank you, Ashley! It's so much fun to identify your/your blog's seasonal personality and colors. That's so cute that you dressed your baby as a minion! I better head over to your blog and see if I can see her photo :)

  5. I'm here for the link up!

I'm going to have to look through your moodboard posts and comments! I really want to start working on and with them myself.

I love that you have "your" color! Mine is definitely purple...Followed by rich greens and blues.

Classes are the best! I've been taking a few recently and it feels so good to be learning and growing and asking questions and finding answers. The internet is a great place!

    1. Hi Victoria! Please do and let me know what you think of my moodboards. I had so much fun making them. Purple + Green are such a pretty combination.

  6. Love the mood board! I wasn't much of a pink girl either, but lately have found bits and pieces of it creeping in. Maybe it's because we have so many options in the hues these days and not so much just bubblegum pink. Love that your boys are so close - that is a gift.

    1. You're right, Teresa. There are so many hues to choose from. Soft pink is so kind and gentle, and I'm growing to like it :)
